Description
Moi tobacco is a highly prized, ancestral variety of Nicotiana grown almost exclusively in the northern Brazilian state of Acre, deep near the Peruvian frontier. It stands as the absolute gold standard for premium, traditional rapé production. It is grown along the river by small farms in rich volcanic soil. While commercial tobacco is chemical-cured and industrial Mapacho is often just air-dried, Moi undergoes a brutal, months-long fermentation process. The fresh leaves are stripped of their heavy veins, tightly rolled into thick, dense logs, and wrapped in ropes. This high-pressure environment forces the tobacco to “sweat” out its bitter, harsh resins. It caramelizes the natural sugars inside the leaf, turning the tobacco jet-black and infusing it with a sweet, chocolatey, and earthy aroma.
