Description
Yarumo is a dynamic short lived tree between 30ft-80ft that populates the Amazon basin, Central America and the Caribbean. The yarumo tree’s hollow, bamboo-like inner trunk and segmented branches led to its common name, “trumpet tree,” because indigenous groups sliced the wood down to manufacture ceremonial wind instruments and hunting blowguns. It was also used as a remedy for many ailments such as respiratory and kidney issues.
